One time a fiat person told me that central banks are buying gold, as if that is proof that it’s better than Bitcoin. Implying that, “if Bitcoin is so great, why aren’t central banks buying Bitcoin instead of gold?”

My response was, they’re buying gold because they can rehypothecate it. Gold’s only financial use cases are to underperform Bitcoin and be rehypothecated.
