I don’t think I understand the 12 year limit.

Personally I don’t mind hosting information related to some else’s transactions. I’ve forecasted and I run the hardware to host the whole chain for a few years. Including spam, and most people that care about Bitcoin and run a node can definitively do the same.

My point is related to the purity of Bitcoin as money, probably unachievable.

But it’s frustrating when transactions fees spike and most of the blocks data is not financial records.

its coming anyway or is there a chance core just folds it?

You can run core and not upgrade. I won’t.

I don’t run LN.

then you can just run knots if you dont like data on the blockchain!

I run both, I’m a data hoarder.

Yes, it’s easier because I’m lazy and didn’t put the work on self hosting LN services.
