Ya. Recovery actually sounds kind of awesome, though I could imagine it could be a disaster if the device isn't designed for it.
Device: "Cool, not much going on, gonna drop into my low power mode."
POE switch: "It's DEAD! POWER CYCLE IT!!!"
Device: "Ahh, wtf are you doing to me?!!"
