If you have a laptop or computer more than 10 years old where even Linux doesn't work well anymore, I invite you to give it another life with Haiku.

Your 15 year old computer will boot faster than any current computer. The spirit of BeOS is still alive in Haiku.

Haiku is an amazing system. I actually played around with their C API and it was suprisingly easy to do shared memory segments and message passing (they used some mailbox mechanism).
