I’m curious to learn how to avoid self custody wallet scams. Are there any? Can you paste your private key to the wrong place?

What do you mean paste a private key to the wrong place ?
It seems “third party custody” wallets is a term that can easily be given to a scam website, or a scammer can mock a website easily, with the intention of stealing private keys. Not sure that is a threat yet, but in time it could be as more migration from fiat occurs.
