It does, and I’m very glad. ☕️ But it didn’t come from nothing. Nothing never brought anything into existence. If ever there was a time when there was nothing, then there would still be nothing — not coffee, not Bitcoin, not birds, not you or me — nothing.

So where did it come from ?
All the empirical evidence and reason suggests that, for anything to exist — i.e. “to be,” there must be an eternal, self-existent and all powerful being from which all being is derived. To think otherwise is logically inconsistent. What you acknowledge as that eternal being is another matter. That’s as far as the evidence and reason can take us.
I’m a Christian, and I believe that our being is derived from the eternal, triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), who created all things ultimately for his glory and our good. This God is fully revealed to us in the Son’s incarnation as the perfect man, Jesus Christ. Christ came to seek and save us for eternal life with God by the sacrifice of his life on the cross and his resurrection from the dead. God has foretold and promised this in scripture.
Oh well.
And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

What about all the other gods?
They are, for certain, claims to divinity — attempts to answer the obvious questions that we have as a result of the human experience. We want to make sense of where we get our being, why evil exists in a world where we also desire and experience good, what is right and wrong, what to do with our feelings of guilt, etc. We are by nature religious and will express a desire to answer these in religious ways of some sort.
But only Jesus Christ is a tangible, historical figure who had many eyewitnesses to verify his life, teachings, death and resurrection. There is no historical evidence to the contrary, but rather abundant evidence to affirm him and his truth claims. He can’t be logically dismissed.
Jesus, as God in the flesh, comes answering the hard questions and declaring the defeat of sin, death and evil by his very person and work of salvation. He comes to reconcile us to the true God and give us the eternal life that is found only in him. That’s certainly good news for you and me!
Our response is to have faith in him, as his early disciples declared:
And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
