Sometimes it can take up to 18 months so be patient. Don’t skip the colonization step! If you place them on the ground before they colonize you won’t get nearly the harvest

Colonization?

The inoculated variety of mushroom has to take over the log. If you leave the log directly on the ground wild mushrooms will out compete them

Place the log just a few inches off the ground for about 6 months then you can move the logs to their permanent location

I think that I am doing that already, just didn’t know it was a named step. I was told to overwinter them in my garage, so that’s where they are right now.

I’d keep ‘em somewhere they get dew and rain on them they’ll dry out

Yep, am supposed to keep them moist.
