Looks like NYC MTA is ditching Twitter
"The MTA does not pay tech platforms to publish service information and has built redundant tools that provide service alerts in real time.The MTA has terminated posting service information to Twitter, effective immediately, as the reliability of the platform can no longer be guaranteed."

Seems like an overreaction to two service interruptions.
Seems to have mostly to do with the $50,000 per month that Twitter wants to charge organizations to use their API
