Internet-native, direct, trustless value transfer between individuals. The implications matter less to you if you’re fat and happy using Venmo or whatever, but that’s not the case for everybody.
It’s been a pretty cool experience for me spinning up a LN node, standing up a payment processor, and integrating it with a test front end. It’s rudimentary but powerful. In my view these are the primitives that will form the backbone of a new era in free, open commerce.
That’s the value of bitcoin to me. Next generation payment rails.
I see you trolling on NFTs too. lol, just look at my PFP. Of course 90% of the NFT market is low effort garbage and that’s a problem. But somewhere in there is a really neat way for artists to connect directly with their consumers without the need for a gallery or agency in the middle. And the communities that form around that channel can be pretty cool.
I’m not a card carrying bitcoin maxi so I’ve probably pissed some people off with the above, but that’s the value i see in both spaces.
