Is lightning ever going to be viable as a global payment option for mass use ?

Probably not, but it's a start.

Also, I may be wrong, so ..

.. probably, it's all over.

🤙🏼

Ha ha . A healthy outlook !

With a mobile phone anyone can pay anyone at any time, no extra gadgets, fees, bank accounts. Sounds viable to me.

Yep but really just wondering about the channel liquidity and settlement on a global scale. Just interested if it’s moving right way. Alot to be done for that scale

It'll get ti the Pont where running a node will be as easy as downloading an app and running it. Smart9 servers are already nearly that simple.

I’m interested as already doors are closing on several platforms. They don’t want people having the freedom to trade outside the system. The IMF presented research at the recent G20 meeting outlining the dangers of Crypto to fiat banking. I’m wondering what solutions are being developed to circumvent this otherwise phone companies will block those apps that allow connectivity to nodes

We'll have to build and use our own systems, above phone, start9, mesh mobile networks between peers and not the telcos. But you're right, the noose is tightening on many areas of freedom.

That is what I mean. Is it going to end up a techy network for hardcore p2p freedom maxis

As opposed to a global trading network that is established alongside trad payment rails for billions of unbanked ? 🤷‍♂️

The best use cases for it are currently those places, El Salvador etc and the tech should get easier for the average pleb.

I'm an optimist if you can't tell 😂
