Interesting. So do you not recommend paying for the nostr.wine relay? Could you take a Quick Look at my relay config and let me know if I should modify? I’m trying to understand more about relays so I apologize for the ignorance here
Yes, agreed. I am also testing my new relay setup right now based only on WoT. I'm curious to see how the experience will change here from now on. So far I used to follow nostr:nprofile1qqsyvrp9u6p0mfur9dfdru3d853tx9mdjuhkphxuxgfwmryja7zsvhqpzamhxue69uhhv6t5daezumn0wd68yvfwvdhk6tcppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tcewvzaw 's guide regarding my relay setup. So I paid for nostr.wine and configured the relays as Vitor suggested but with all these spam this whole nostr situation was unbearable.
Discussion
I am by no means a relay expert so I wouldn’t be able to give you any advice, but since nostr.wine is a one-time-subscription relay (doesn’t apply to their filter and inbox relay) just keep it. They seem to have improved it. I can’t detect any spam coming from their relay for days. Also, your configuration depends on if you are using a client with outbox model (e.g. Amethyst) or not. If you use a client like #Amethyst, follow nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z ‘s guide here:
Thank you I appreciate the help.
When I joined nostr, I noticed that nostr.wine was added to my relay list, but I never paid to join. It seems that I am connected and authorized though? Not sure if I understand that. I’m also using Damus on iOS
No, if you haven’t paid, you’re not subscribed. You can check it here:
“Authenticated” just means that this is not a free relay everyone can connect to. You have to authenticate yourself, which in this specific case means that you have to pay.
