Seemed like a crazy amount of money, at the time. 😂
Wish I had been smart enough to ask him to buy me something. Spent years cooking and cleaning and ironing for him, and sleeping in his bed, while still paying rent on my own apartment, and working full-time in engineering, and didn't walk away with so much as a nice coffee cup or a trinket.
Just terribly nervous because I'd made a haughty, dramatic exit and then my period didn't show up for 2 weeks and I thought I'd have to crawl back and be like,
Sorry, that was a little harsh. Let's get married, after all, as I suddenly have a bit more English in me. 😂🙈
Or a tea pot. He got me into tea (There is no "black tea", there is only "tea", remember, darling, and you always have to spoon away from yourself, not slop it all over your shirt like some Neanderthal or worse: a German!), and I would see these pretty 🫖 in shop windows and drop hints, but never got one.
First thing I did, after moving out, was buy myself a nice 🫖.

Married the poorest guy I ever dated, but he buys me teapots. And coffee cups! And he cooks the tea, to put in them!
