They are pretty privacy aligned, even encouraging payment in cash or bitcoin to have as little info on you as possible.

VPNs are good but they can be a honeypot of data. Use a good one but also use Tor and alternate DNS (NextDNS for example). Those two tools go a long way in and of themselves.

I think it’s better to install a VPN on a router, one paid in XMR if possible. I think device level is easily compromised with effort and intent.
