Venerable Nicodim, a monk of Serbian origin, established the Tismana Monastery in Romania during the 14th century. Guided by divine vision, he chose a hidden cave as his hermitage. Legend says, while praying, the Theotokos appeared to him, directing him to build a monastery on that very spot. Skilled in calligraphy and a scholar, Nicodim translated religious texts and promoted literacy. He fostered a spiritual revival, emphasizing prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. His monastic community became a beacon of faith, and learning, and charity in the region. O Holy Father Nicodim, intercede with Christ God for us!
