True! Luckily there are a lot of

People on Nostr who do make an effort to add value so that there is content to view when people are bored, as you say.

I keep having to follow you. I don't get why I keep losing follows. Frustrating. Just added 5 people back, today.

Huh? nostr:npub1f6ugxyxkknket3kkdgu4k0fu74vmshawermkj8d06sz6jts9t4kslazcka you also just got dropped and I had to refollow.

weird. still following

I was following you an hour ago, and then I wasn't. 🤷‍♀️

Now I can’t find Beave 🙆🏼‍♀️

so weird. all is back to good now i hope. time to sleep gn 🫂

😁🙏🏽 I’m grateful that you do 🌺

Hmmm means I need to check my follows too. Franny mentioned the same thing - losing people on here…

Shit don't work.

Ok I still have everyone I can think of 🙌 let’s see how we go..

It’s the Wild West here I’m not surprised sometimes things go wrong 😂

Functionality like posting notes and managing follows and relays needs to be reliable. Everything else is low-priority.

The core feature set needs to be waterproof.

This is not acceptable.

Yes. If nothing else, the people putting effort into content (regardless of how much some particular person likes that content) are showing that they're "here".

Not just that they have an npub and occasionally throw something our way, but that they are invested, present, and available for interaction.

The Internet is a big void and humans want to go where they can sense other humans.

I am not here for socialising or because i am getting bored. I am exploring. Hunting too. For fun mainly so far.

And what has your experience been so far? Have you found what you’ve been looking for?

So far it's funny. It is funny because there is no censorship. It is the second social media i spent some time so far. The first one was mastodon and lemmy , i used them at the same time. I used them because a friend told me that they are decentralised because some people selfhost their own servers and thus have more free speech. Not true though, the truth is that everyone who has a server is a small dictator. That's it. So no fun on these. Of course i never even tried Facebook or other famous social media. So far this is what i have discovered. We'll see for next...

I was also on Lemmy for a while believing as you did that it was decentralised, but discovered that it’s full of dictators. Like what they did to the piracy community, that was me done with them.

I don't know about what happened with the piracy community. Can you tell me?

The Lemmies all decided to ban them from any of their instances and took down their community because they didn’t agree with them.

More division isn’t necessarily good. Is that what you mean? Cause I agree 🙏

I'm so used to Nostr, now, that I have trouble understanding how a community can be "taken down".

Well... If we are unlucky and porn involving children appears in nostr, i guess we will learn. Because this is the unacceptable of the unacceptables. It has to go down. There must be absolute zero tolerance to something like that.

You can't stop someone from hosting it on their own relay.

And this is a problem eventually

No. You can't stop someone from using email or the Internet, either. You can only refuse to host their traffic.

That is inherent to a true protocol.

So you say that this specific relay could become like an isolated island or something? What's the difference with lemmy and the fediverse then? I thought that a polluted relay interacts with other relays anyway. No?

Anyone can still read from or write to that relay. It isn't "burned" or "blocked" centrally. Same with npubs.

You mean that the relay can be seen in the relay list but if the user doesn't choose it for feed, then there is not an interaction with it?

Interesting. Thank you. Seems like every platform tend to have different audience and mentality. I am disgusted with Lemmy...

That’s been my experience mostly too, people want to be around other people in some form or other.

We are Nostr we have to grow Nostr if we want it to thrive, there are no algorithms or suggested things, just people putting in some work
