It is known as bee glue (straight propolis). To make a tincture add 90% grain alcohol. Bees gather it from the resins of trees and mix a little beeswax with it, then plug holes/gaps in the hive with it. If a mouse or something crawls in the hive a dies there, and is too heavy for the bees to remove, they will entirely cover it over with propolis to prevent the ill-humors of decaying flesh from contaminating their home. Beekeepers scrape it off the wooden ware (or use traps) to collect it. Propolis is antifungal, antibiotic, antibacterial. It smells faintly sweet, resinous and not unpleasantly medicinal. I love to make salves from it too.

Wow, super interesting! I love how they take care of the problem of rotting carcasses to protect themselves.
