Agreed. It would be nice to see him recognize the need for Nostr and make his way over here. I still think Nostr won’t take off until some of the bigger accounts come over and bring their mass followings with them.

Most social media patforms have teams which help high profile users migrate. Substack, TikTok, twitch, spotify, and others even promised minimum revenue to incentivize the switch. We don’t have the VC dollars to burn on that but we should think of what we can do. A kind of white glove onboarding service.

Fair points. Maybe we are just going to have to let it materialize out of need. Almost like Bitcoin is doing on the monetary side. I’m bereft of answers right off the top of my head. Things to think on.

An easy, user friendly onboarding service that gets you up to speed quickly without too much technical stuff would be killer. Save the tech for later, just win the user.

Yes once bigger accounts make their way here, and a few of the rough edges are ironed out.

I think if bigger accounts try to come here now it will still be painful for their followers. It is still scary ("What if you lose your nsec"). Thankfully people like Pablo and others are making a lot of progress on improving onboarding and polishing the sharp edges.

I think the best case scenario is for them to get one foot in, make an account start posting, get their followers to be aware Nostr exists, and then gradually migrate eventually.

There is something nice about there being a little effort required to get on Nostr. It self selects for a group of people willing to put in the time. But for mass growth, that probably will need to change.

Installing the native apps and making an npub/nsec is easy. Seeing content is also easy. Unfortunately it’s hard to get from the global feed which is mostly Bitcoiners posts to other kinds of users / content is hard. Some apps like nostr:npub1yzvxlwp7wawed5vgefwfmugvumtp8c8t0etk3g8sky4n0ndvyxesnxrf8q do make interesting attempts at directing users to different content. Learning how to use a browser extension to access nostr web apps is hard. So is understanding that you’ve got keys and not an account on a server.

To me the biggest issue is new users join and we’re not making sure their first “hello world” type posts are getting interaction. Folks join and feel ignored and leave.

No doubt. A tricky situation to navigate. “Nostr liaison” has a nice ring to it.

I’m not a bitcoiner but i think making it easy folks to fundraise using zaps is a kind of killer…. Err uh…. Key feature which will draw some people in.

That said they need to be able to join, build an audience while also making it easy for their existing users to follow them over.

Yeah, I tried to get a buddy who is trying to raise money for a doc on here and it went absolutely nowhere. Had no way of getting his audience over here.

Exactly. They need audience building support.
