They are entrenched in a system and within the incentives of that system, the sunk cost fallacy is hard to shake, for those who didn't get much out of Twitter it was easy to move. For those who didn't get much out of fiat it was easy to move
Those "influencers" claim to be critical thinkers but are merely an extension of corporate marketing efforts
