Ubuntu is nice but I would say not the best... some people even are saying Fedora is the new Ubuntu given how stable it is even to upgrade. I would say investigate Fedora and how to install things there (you can install snapd for snap apps) and Flatpack just works on any distro.

If you prefer an ubuntu base, Mint or Zorin 😉
