Why is it compromised?

Depends on which bitcoin tribe you belong to or what bitcoin groups you are listening to it‘s different reasons.

It seems like this person is saying there could be an attack vector but hasn't submitted an exploit.

Yeah. Provocative stuff.

Some groups and people consider Core comprised for a long time already.
