It's not complex. They aren't mad about children being molested, they are mad about pedophiles existing. They have to find a way to somehow rationalize it so that pedophiles are dependent on the mercy or naivety of others. If they don't then their hate-boner goes away and they realize that being a good person is more complex than just killing enough pedophiles to cancel out their own sins. They have a pathological need to "spot" the pedophile, whether one is there or not. A pedophile who just doesn't see a reason to avoid confrontation and talking about their paraphilia is a threat to their worldview.
