This is 100% reason every new user that I’ve greeted to the platform has left. They verbalized it too. I periodically go through followers list, to check up on the newbies I welcomed/followed/zapped/replied to.. and all of them has left the platform. It’s massive problem, but the problem doesn’t want to be heard. Even seasoned users like myself are exhausted by the constant repeat chambered bitcoin talk.

We talked about this on the bitcoin review podcast today. One way is to have a signup link with a different bootstrap relay list of relays that ban the word bitcoin and freedom and such

We do this in our real life interactions. At least I do πŸ˜„.

You talk to people around you about shared interests, things happening on a local level, the weather, sports, etc. You use discernment and judgment about bringing up Bitcoin. The phrase that comes to mind is β€œreading the room”.

If people know that every conversation they have with you will involve a Bitcoin discussion, people will avoid you. #foreveralone #foreveralonewithbitcoin

Talking about bitcoin is fine. I like Bitcoin. Talk about whatever you want (bitcoin, coffee, religion, politics). That's the beauty of this place. Just pointing out that it's repetitive and boring to talk about the same thing like this is one giant subreddit.

For some it’s not though. So you should talk about other things, and let others who want to talk about their interests all the time do the same. I’m not sure why this is hard.
