Technology makes it really hard for dictators to lie about their economic growth and production. Using satellites that measure pollution shows that Russia’s economy has been struggling contrary to the propaganda the Russian state continues to put out.
My take: Open source tech like Bitcoin and nostr will accomplish the same against banks and walled off/censored communication
