It reminds me of requiem for a dream

Where the mother character isolates herself so much her main friend is this guy on the TV and she convinced herself that he's going to come out of the TV for her

It's been a while since I watched it

But the premise is essentially, from my understanding, that mental deterioration via aging and brain rot, coupled with isolation and the human condition of needing to feel a connection with something lead to a delusional break in reality... An over active imagination and a sense of longing lead to hallucinations and induced erotomania.

The TV was always there. Reliable. The personality was so friendly and inviting by design.

The whole "you, yes you!" Gambit to make watchers feel like they're being directly spoken to helps foster this decline.
