Works pretty well from my experience if you are connected to all your relays. Sometimes clients cache a feed and need some time to recognize. It also might still show up linked to replies.

There is also NIP-40 which sets an expiration time for a note but I haven’t seen client support for that yet.

Are you using iris.to at all? If I look at this note in snort, it says it's gone. If I look at it in iris, it's there. I test using a couple of different relays one at a time from a new account and different web client. So as far as I can tell snort is respecting the NIP-09 and iris is ignoring it.

I switch between iris, snort, damus, plebstr and primal all the time. I think I have deleted posts using iris as well.
