Just realized I've been massively gaslit. Have been choosing western tech manufacturers for things like phones and cameras for better data security. But, isn't it better to rather purchase some of these from manufacturers in jurisdictions that won't comply with my government?

Yes fine China can spy on me to some degree, but they've got much less power over me so on net it's better.
