Guys have a lot of terms that vary in meaning based on tone too.

If I say “That guy is a motherfucker.” That means he’s a force to be reckoned with.

If I say “listen here motherfucker,” that means we have issues.

I expect something similar is true with Chad. Someone who is a Chad, it’s cool to call them a Chad.

Someone who’s trying to hard (a tryhard) calling them a real Chad seems to be a term of derision.
