Everything we have been told about the Wild West is a Lie, the truth about the Wild West was deliberately distorted in the media to give the impression that communities and states that formed without government were somehow just chaotic and dangerous and unsafe. In fact the exact opposite is the truth:

- Per capita the murder rate in the Wild West was magnitudes less than modern democratic western societies.

- Major theft such as Bank and Train robberies were actually incredibly rare.

- Petit theft was rare due to the fact that communities were so tight, and there was no safety net and ostracization was an excellent deterrent.

- Communities created dispute resolution entities that rarely ended in any violence whatsoever without the need of any government bodies. This happened on both community and state level.

- Settlers actually had good relationships and traded and co-existed alongside the Indians and natives, that was until government and corrupt business men came in and worked together to violently seize land and resources.

- Rules of business and trade were negotiated quickly and efficiently.

- On the rare occasion that a violent group or individual came to harass a town or community, in some cases over 8000 people would form a vigilante group and would quickly quell any violent crime, unlike modern societies were so much of it is tolerated and allowed to continue.

The sad thing is that the Wild West was a blue print for how communities states and countries could existing without the overbearing corrupt and incompetent apparatus of the state, and it’s true nature was buried in history and propaganda to continue the justified existence of the state and all the power and corruption that comes with it.

But it’s amazing to know that this blue print does exist and I hope one day we can return to it.
