Here’s an idea, offer too much, then they likely will resort to their posted price, relinquish the item, and you can get on with your life.

I apologize. I suggested that you attend the market, and offer a higher price for the item than is posted on the vendor stall. Perhaps the vendor would then sell the item immediately and free you from a meaningless haggling situation.

oh sorry. quite the contrary. usually they already have a starting price. Malaysia is moving towards compulsory price display for every item (it is the law)

Yes. That’s what I meant, but didn’t express myself well at all. I meant that you should offer them more than/over the posted price. Then they might skip the annoying haggling.

I used to haggle all the time when I lived in KL.
