#moral conumdrum series 1:

Is it morally wrong?

Story: A family of four found that their dog had been run over by a car and had died on the spot. They heard that dog tastes good, so they decided to cook the meat and eat it.

No one saw them, and they owned the dog.

Did the family do anything morally wrong?

What is morality?

it's not morally wrong, but very creepy

it would make me wonder if how much they cared about the dog

Morally wrong, no

Socially, yes.

interesting take. Would you believe me that socially some parts of the world, eating dog is acceptable? I am always curious at other people's take on things. It gives me a glimpse of their beliefs β˜ΊοΈπŸ‘Œ

I spent time in Indonesia.

β€”Im certain I have eaten dog.

Im only commenting from my own perspective as an American

I think i saw this question (or a similar one) in Jonathan Haidt's "The Righteous Mind". It measures if you consider the "sacred" as a pillar for morality.

I have no definite answer for that. I personally would not do it, because the life (and death) of my pets is sacred to me. But i wont judge someone else for doing it. So it is a moral standard, but a very private one.

Not morally wrong. It's just another animal.
