i wonder how many people decided to one day, pack up, leave their life, friends & family, connection, & convenience far behind to live alone in the wilderness of alaska or anywhere in the wild frozen north.
how many are actually out there doing this, we will never know about it.
I did the warm weather version. Packed up and went to a tropical Asian island. Lasted 6 months before a new life started...

I was about to joke and say Yes, I was DiCaprio. And then I remembered I did accidentally get semi-involved accidentally and indirectly with the Asian mafia where things got a little sketchy for a while. Nothing like the movie though. I'd do it again though. Freedom, tossing away material baggage, is liberating, like abandoning monkeys on your back. Not sure about Alaska though--sounds like a tough life.

i think everyone needs a liberating experience like that. survive only with what they have on their backs & their wits. iām not sure where I would go & when, but i know i will do it one day

D'oh. Just realised you said The Island and I was thinking The Beach.
Warm weather is easier to live with and also means you'll go out more, as will everyone, so helps with social encounters etc. I'm jealous, go for it. You only die once š
