Looked at some medical textbooks yesterday about fighting obesity and diabetes.

The authors unironically recommend we consume a diet of 50-60% "complex" carbohydrates, while reducing simple sugars to <10%. I would ask these colleagues what the difference was between complex and simple sugars? All complex sugars, i.e. starch, break down very easily into simple ol' glucose and get absorbed easily in the gut.

I was baffled by this, and imagine my surprise when I got to the diabetes section where I saw recommendations about continuing eating carbohydrates and picking "healthy whole-grain bread".

The authors are all respected phds, considered experts in the field. They are a disgrace to the profession imo.

Only true doctor in diabetes is Dr. Bernstein and his book Diabetes solutions.

As the only one I know he recommends low carb diet. Basically kind of re-invented it.

Read the book! The man is a legend. Still going age 85ish! Read it even if you are not diabetic. Show to your diabetic friends.
