How-to substantially reduce your number of relays AND stay well-connected.

1.) wss://nostr.wine and wss://filter.nostr.wine

Get this relay! It’s paid, but worth the Sats (today: 18.8k). Using this relay enables you to use the filter service wss://filter.nostr.wine

The filter works both for requesting events from, and sending events to many other big public relays. Default is reading-only. To enable sending simply add the relay with the following syntax:

wss://filter.nostr.wine/REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_NPUB?broadcast=true

2.) wss://relay.nostr.band

This relay reads events from all relays and applies a spam filter. In case of writing you’ll only send to relay.nostr.band. However, it is a good addition to relay 1.) as it only requests events from your contacts and their contacts.

3.) wss://nostr.mutinywallet.com

This relay uses blastr which is a nostr cloudfare worker proxy that publishes to all known relays. Basically it reads the list of online relays from nostr.watch and all events are queued to be executed in batches. It’s in writing-only mode.

We haven’t fully tested the last one yet, but since it might fit for some use cases, it was added to the list.
