New small project on my workbench now... creating a global p2p network simulation engine for developing and testing a connectionless relay network protocol.
There is no such thing as an internet wide connectionless protocol yet, several exist but only target small scale networks where congestion relatively low, and geometry relatively simple.
In terms of an analogy, it is similar in principle to a road network, compared to the TCP based, path routed system that runs moth of the internet being like a rail network, where cargo capacity is the priority, rather than time efficiency and privacy, that a road network provides.
