It’s an original byproduct of slathered psychological thriller ontop of the bones of the Mob/heist/gangster clique trope.

So many references it’s hard to count. It almost points out the premise the way it’s a made composite of archetypes and “go-to”s. The pieces make up the movie but they are also something separate: just like the ego and true self.
