Very curious, how do they get paid? How does being an influencer work under the hood? Do they get a check in the mail?

Depends on the kind of influence. Work in media. AMA.

How does that model transfer to this protocol?, if at all. Do you see a future where the current model gets broken or adjusted?

My bet is that when the printer and fraction reserve gets wet, all the marketing bullshit gets demonetized. But I'm just a random ignorant.

Likely a mix of ad-sharing revenue from TikTok and tips from viewers/followers when livestreaming.

Most of the monetization comes from views. TikTok pays very well, and the second-largest revenue comes from TikTok Shop. Gifts during live streams are more of a bonus.

On TikTok, you receive via PayPal or directly to your bank account. Monetization varies based on RPM, but the average is around $1.22 per thousand views. Not all views are counted, and only videos over 60 seconds are monetized.

Note: this RPM average was obtained with viral content. When I created more niche content (like on Bitcoin, for example), my results weren’t good, staying around $0.77 on average. Additionally, those videos were often demonetized and ended up getting shadowbanned, plus it took quite some time to meet the monetization requirements (10k followers + 100k views).

I have a YouTube account that makes a few hundred bucks a month, they work through Google pay

Deposited right into my checking account

I think the biggest ones actually do get a check directly from a brand they're promoting in exchange for promotional posts / product placement
