For nostr being free to use there sure are a lot of things people try to get you to pay for. Smells like fiat in here........

idk nippsy 05's or w/e that is. I paid for 2 of em awhile back. Don't know what happned to em though cuz now people want me to pay for more.
NIP-05. You can get a NIP-05 address on your own if you want for free. But some people do it for a service for a fee. It’s also not a requirement either. Like you said, the protocol is open and free, but you can choose to pay for some things.
