Unless they force Apple/Google to drop all Nostr clients 😱

Then alt app stores and sideloading ftw, but that'd stifle mass-adoption 😔

Yeah but on Android you can side load and on iOS the only way to bypass is web browser which isn’t that bad

They just ban it from app stores, no? Same can be done with #Nostr apps too.

Depends how far they will go! They don’t allow to use torrent in the USA and ISP tracking it then sends fine to noobs.

Don’t allow torrents or it’s illegal to download specific content via torrents? Big difference! Btw, ISP can’t reliably trace torrent traffic if you force encryption in client. Then only way to catch you is to act as a seeder for some illegal content and log that you downloaded it.

They could ban Nostr apps. And until we’re able to easily run Nostr over tor, the network traffic would be easy to ban.

Yes,the apps from the AppStore or Google like China did with Damus. But people are bypassing it with web clients + VPN. Also nostr:npub1sn0rtcjcf543gj4wsg7fa59s700d5ztys5ctj0g69g2x6802npjqhjjtws via tor works as far as I heard

Can't ban #nostr, but can definitely attack the network effect through centralized app store bans. The problem for the banners is all of the people smart enough to know how to still get the app on their device will still be able to build out solutions together.

I haven't looked into running a relay yet, but hopefully there are guides out there for making them robust and anti-fragile in the case of potential legislative attacks.
