The stars

Since I was a child I have been fascinated by the universe, the fundamental force of the universe is gravity, gravity governs all processes at the cosmic level.

Have you ever wondered how a star works? It is fascinating, simple and elegant. A star is a self-sustaining thermonuclear reaction. To achieve the fusion of hydrogen-1 atoms a high temperature and pressure is needed, the gravity of the star itself increases the pressure in the nucleus which in turn increases the temperature and generates the fusion which also increases the temperature, and the star's own gravity prevents the atoms from escaping and the reaction starts again.

A star is a gravitationally confined, self-regulating nuclear fusion reactor.

Did you know that the elements of the periodic table are created in stars? Stellar nucleosynthesis is the process by which elements are created within stars by combining protons and neutrons from the nuclei of lighter elements. All atoms in the universe began as hydrogen. Fusion within stars transforms hydrogen into helium, heat and radiation. Heavier elements are created in different types of stars as they die or explode.

We are stardust.
