all marketable things are at base services
i can sell cars, or i can rent cars, but what the customer is paying for is transport, and thus public buses, and air transport are also delivering the same basic service
people like prestige items because they want to look like they are prestige, thus the plethora of stupid products with blings and prominent elite brand names that have turned into broad market items with low actual prices and declining prestige
you don't buy a house to own the house, you buy it to keep the rain and cold out, to stop people stealing your stuff, to store your food, to house your bed, which provides you a comfortable place to sleep
