Land is pretty scarce, although you can build high rises and get multiple homes from one piece of property. It’s not, however, fungible, a unit of account, medium of exchange, in short it’s not also money. The line I use in India, if you want to buy a samosa, are you going to offer one stone off your property? It’s not liquid ornthpically divisible. There’s also reclamation such as happens in Holland or Mumbai which shifts the coastline and makes more land, admittedly a negligible percentage.
