sending a dm to an npub doesn't make them a member of OPA, we could be sending DM for all kind of reasons, but we get your point

Can confirm. #Primal does not, because I don't see any of my recent DM activity there. Only DMs received from before NIP-17 was adopted by #Amethyst.
And yes, while there could be other reasons for DMs from OPA, it would probably be a safe assumption that someone receiving a dm from you is likely an OPA member.
This is on our roadmap, but at the moment we do not support NIP-17.
