I been listening to Balaji podcast appearances and have come to the conclusion this is definitely not about the money . Balaji could have gotten much better terms IE $1M in 3 years , $100k in 6 months , plenty of people would have taken that bet . Seems like he just wanted to get attention so he could spread his message. I do agree with his message just not the timeline
