Vibe coding is kinda cool because it now democratises who can build something. An idea could now become a reality. But, with one phat caveat, now that we have the faucet all the way on, absolute slop is getting pumped out at an order of magnitude greater than anything of quality.

and how can you think that is cool?
I was talking to a friend about something similar a couple of weeks ago. He has been working in IT management type roles but isn’t a programmer himself. He has an idea for an app and sees AI coding as a way to quickly build a prototype - something he could have never done easily in the past. He acknowledges though that there are too many potential problems actually releasing the AI version to the public and if the project gets off the ground he will get experienced developers to implement it properly.
