It’s not hard to understand that you is the only responsible for your life and property. Give that control over you for another one in any scale is slavery.

Yes, but the rulers at the head can be held accountable, which I think makes a huge difference.

Not really. One person can’t be accountable for a small city. Like he can’t financially compensate everyone for damages he’s caused.

I'm talking town, and I guess it seems to me that humans have always - and will likely continue to - organize themselves into groups. One of my goals is stay more connected to what is happening near me so that I can't complain about changes that I didn't even try to fight.

If you vote then you can’t complain. But if you don’t vote then you’re not a consenting party.
