They should just buy Bitcoin with it. 1,236 tons is a lot of weight you could put on a pen-drive.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Especially, as you could always reconvert to gold, on the other end. Still cheaper and easier than transporting.
No real point in moving gold, anymore.
And then you can slowly sell off, on one end, and repurchase on the other, and spare the drama.
