I have never heard of a pawpaw before. I saw your harvest photo and I thought it was a local name for green mangoes. they do look like it inside as well except for the number of seeds. What does it taste like?

Some people say they have a mango flavor note, but I think itβs overwhelmingly like a combination of banana and cherimoya or soursop. Thereβs a lot of variety, too. One of these is a little savory and has a cherry note, and the other is maybe a little vanilla-like.
You may want to plan a trip to the southeastern U.S./Canada for when these are in season! Youβre unlikely to be able to try them otherwise, as they donβt keep or ship well.
I think some states have a pawpaw festival which would probably be a good bet!
