I worry about the day when self custody isn’t an option for most people. When I hear people like Michael Saylor talk about their vision for what bitcoin is going to look like in 15 years, it actually makes me feel pretty bearish on it. If 99% of people can’t afford self custody, by definition that does mean that the price will be insanely high. But then how will it be any better than gold? Layer 2s are only a viable solution if they are permissionless and not capturable by KYC/AML requirements.
