I highly recommend a #rocketstove as a contingency heat source for boiling water and cooking outside.

Runs on gathered sticks; no need to fell a tree. Very efficient. Great in the south east where trees are plentiful and it's hot enough that you don't want to heat indoors.

You can crate some small oak kindling ahead of time to ensure an easy 30-90 days of low-smoke heat.

Very cool. Thermal siphon- brilliant.

Yeah - they're good. Quick and efficient burn. There's always sticks being dropped by Gumtrees around here. They burn hot & fast.

I used to be a big fan of Paul Wheaton.

I made one using concrete & pearlite but it eventually cracked. I like the steel design & might have to knock one up.

Yeah - it is. I'm not sure I'd bother making it if I could get it for that price. It certainly wouldn't look as pretty. It would probably cost me $150 to ship it here though.

Makes me want to buy a plasma cutter 😆
