Are you using the desktop version? I’ve received very little feedback about it, so I assumed not many people were using it.

I am. I think the most annoying thing is that it eats all memory unless a chat is clicked. I've worked this around by trying to click a chat as soon as possible after start and also run it in a constrained cgroup so that it doesn't bring down my whole system. :) I'm also not sure how well it works at all any more. Chat group settings do not stick, encryption status is unclear, message delivery seems uncertain and pics/links work so-so. But sharing cashu in chats works, which is fun. We - a group of friends - have tried to switch from whatsapp to a nostr-based chat, but have yet to find something nice that works across multiple platfroms. 0xchat showed promise for a while...

What system are you using?

I'm on a recent Linux system that does not use systemd for pid 1.

thx for your feedback, will check it out

Have you tried using a new account to see if the issue still occurs? I’d like to confirm whether it’s a code-related problem or a limitation of the Flutter framework.

You mean like with a new nostr nsec? No, I have not tried that. Would be a bit tedious to recreate all chats and group memberships with a new nsec. But, I could of course just launch it with a new nsec and do nothing. Assuming you are curious about the OOM. A hint is that it doesn't eat memory ad infinitum after start if I click a chat. But now when I think about it, it does so after some activity in the group. It's been difficult to convert people, and nowadays they use whatsapp mostly again. So, I forgot that it sometimes OOMs in chats as well.

Thanks for the detailed info β€” that helps!

Continue developing desktop client! Users mainly use phones, so there isn't much feedback, but desktop client is very important, and your client with calls will be the best!
